Hallelujah for mobile applications. It is so nice to know that there are people out there in the world that are working on solutions to make our busy lives easier. I have been so impressed with all the free applications that are out there for fun and for business. Most of these applications are fairly easy to use and prove to be most useful. I think you could get a lot more in depth with some of the applications, it just depends on what sort of work you want to accomplish. All in all, the search application that I have installed and have been using is awesome. It functions as it is stated and proves very useful. I had no idea how much fun working with an application could be. I think it is because it is a mobile application, so you are not tied to your computer or laptop to find the information that you are looking to find. I hope everyone has the same great feelings about the mobile applications as I have come to love.

Integrating Social Media
We have moved to a place in technology where we need all our information at our fingertips, whether or not it is for business or social reasons. We have evolved into a mobile social world and it is very important that we keep our social media tied to us at all times. The integration of applications that you can now access on your mobile device is amazing. There is not much that you can not access on your mobile device these days. The mobile device is almost a small handheld computer. It not only acts as a phone, but calendar, email, contacts and gps. I could go on about the applications that you can access these days, but I think you should go check them out and see for yourself. Check out this cool video for integrating facebook into your Gmail account. I think it will be nice to access all of this from one place.

E-mail Search
Search your e-mail on your mobile device with this awesome e-mail search application which is also a part of this total search package. Need to find an e-mail from a business associate or perspective client quickly with this e-mail search app. Just start typing the name of the person who you are searching for and up pops the most relevant e-mails with your search criteria. How simple is that? No more scrolling endlessly through inbox e-mails and folders in search of the one specific e-mail that you need for that business deal or for details on a contract that you need before a meeting. Don’t let finding that all important e-mail put you in a bind, use this e-mail search application to make your mobile life easier. Let the technology work for you and put it to good use. There are many more applications that will help us out there, we just need to try them.
Vertical Searching
This next mobile application that is embedded into this whole search application is a vertical search. I had no clue what a vertical search was, so I went hunting. It really is the same as a regular web search, but much more specific and you can do this all from your mobile device. Spend less time looking through links brought up by regular search engines and get more productivity out of your mobile device. Using a vertical search give you greater precision due to limited scope leverage, domain knowledge including taxonomies and ontology’s and it also supports specific unique user tasks. The vertical content area may be based on topicality, media type, or genre of content. Common examples include legal, medical, patent (intellectual property), travel, and automobile search engines. This will reduce the time used to search for businesses that you need to find quickly. All this knowledge at your fingertips, so put it to good use.

Spreading the Word
Mobile apps have been the best thing since sliced bread. The application is so easy to down load and use. Just make sure you have internet access on your mobile device or you will get charged per kilobyte that you use. I actually used the GPS the other day to find a nearby restaurant. It automatically fixed my location and gave me restaurants within a 5 to 10 mile radius. The email and contact search is a great tool as well if you are away from the office. No calling your assistant to look up vital information. It is all right at your fingertips. I am going to spread the word on Facebook, so be looking for my post. I will list a link to the Mobile Apps site http://www.google.com/mobile/search/ and a link to my blog as well. If you have any questions or would like to comment if you have used a Mobile App like these, please share.

GPS Location
Another feature of this Mobile App suite is the GPS (Global Positioning System). If you are trying to find a nearby business, restaurant, or hotel this feature uses the GPS system on your mobile device. You will not have to type in the address of where you are currently, it will use your current location and give you area businesses, hotels and restaurants that are nearby. While taking the worry out of trying to find out what address to use and no typing and driving, this will save you both time and money when meeting with a client or perspective clients. Mobile Apps have come along way and I think this is my personal favorite. Especially with all the 3G, 4G and wireless access points around town, it is really efficient and fast to find a location. Can you imagine trying to find a telephone book these days, much less a telephone booth?

Mobile Searching
I have ventured off into the realm of mobile applications for your handheld devices. One in particular is an application that will allow you to search contacts on your device, check email, and find a location and calendaring. You might ask why you would want all these different applications on your mobile device. If you are starting a business and need to keep track of emails, contacts and meetings while locating a place to meet a client, this would be the smart application for you. You install this Google Mobile App on your device just by going to http://m.google.com/search on your devices’ browser. This application only takes about a minute to download and you must have a Google account to activate it the email part of the application. Even if you are not a great speller, you can use voice search to locate what you are looking for. I love this application and it seems very business worthy.
